arcade fire line

It’s good to see that after all of these years people are still interested in Superchunk! So interested that the mere mention of them holding a free show with some new band (I haven’t really heard of them: the Arcade Fire?) will prompt huge lines to form in hopes of a ticket.

I got a flier in the mail that asked me if I had seen this 64 year old woman who had been missing since 1958. It begs the question, are kids ever retired from the missing kid database? If this 64 year old woman is out there somewhere, doesn’t she have he own life by now? After all, she’s been missing for 50 years. Who will bee notified if she is found? Her parents? Wouldn’t they be around 90 by now? Aren’t there kids who have gone missing more recently and more locally whose photos can fill my mailbox? Really, is this organization so hurting for a reason to give Stanley Steemer some ad space that they had to dig in there database half a century and over a thousand miles from my time and location?

Wembly, Robosapien…

…Curtains of Night, Bellafea… Some good music has been at the Local 506 the past couple of days. It was absolutely great to finally see Wembly. Robosapien will school anyone when it comes to bringing the party. Curtains of Night have that unique mix of stoner rock and hardcore that I was instantly in love with… And Bellafea finally has a full-length album!

Here’s a shot of Wembly:

These Blogs are Snakes!

I just saw 15 snakes on my run!

Your development iPhone wigging out? Demanding that you connect it to iTunes and you’re pretty damned sure it’s connected to iTunes? You need a new version of the OS and probably a new version of the SDK to install it. Get them both from the iPhone development page (login required for the OS.)

My iPhone decided to brick on its own this morning. Xcode tells me, “This device is expired. Please install a newer version of the OS.” Thanks, Xcode, I’ll just head over to Apple’s developer site and… wait a tick… there is no newer version of the OS! (Still 5A225c)

If you’re a fellow iPhone developer, don’t worry, this is happening to everyone. Forums are saying that reverting to an older system isn’t working either, so we need to sit tight and try to remember a time when we didn’t need phones to communicate with people not next to us. Hopefully Apple will push out an OS update with a quickness.

Update:TUAW has a piece that reverting to the older firmware is working. If you’re a nerd like me, you’re phone doesn’t exactly ring off the hook. I’m going to wait a few more hours before I waste the time switching back then again switching forward.

The Apple developer forum is down. (link to the device expired thread.) This, hopefully, signals something good for us.

Link to the Apple Developer Connection iPhone page. I keep refreshing hoping to see an iPhone OS greater than 5A225c.

Here’s an active forum at macrumors if you want to keep up with the trolls.

Recording at Chuck’s

Sunday Chuck and I had an experiment with direct-in drum recording.

Microsoft has this experimental software that takes a sung melody and gives it a fucking awesome, synth-piano backing.

Is there something out there that can maybe do the reverse? You know, like we could give it music then it would make this awesome 1980’s sounding synth voice singing computer-made lyrics? Could that program also do the pelvic thrusts required for a successful stage performance?
